The Hospitality Certificate program provides students a combination of general education courses linked with business and hospitality management courses designed to provide an understanding of the economic, legal and social forces that shape the hospitality industry. The courses are designed to provide a practical base of knowledge and prepare students to enter the industry with an entry-level position that would allow advancement into supervisory management positions in the International Hospitality Industry.
The program emphasizes skills in human relations, leadership, technology, critical thinking, guest encounter training and qualitative and quantitative analysis. Students are also required to complete 168 hours of work experience in a hospitality-related field. This internship is an important part of the program and often leads to an employment opportunity for the student.
